 LAKE GENEVA 100 - ASALMS

Alison Quick became the first female driver in ASALMS history to win an event when she took the feature win in the GM Performance Parts Shootout at the Lake Geneva (WI) Raceway.

By ASA Late Model Series
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (05/20/2006): The ASA Late Model Series Northern Division has just completed the GM Performance Parts Shootout for the second event of the 2006 season.

The Lake Geneva (WI) Raceway, located just across the Wisconsin/Illinois border and West of Racine in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, serves as hosts for the Northern Division’s second event of the 2006 season; the Lake Geneva 100.

The uniquely shaped 1/3 mile progressively banked paved oval in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin has a great crowd on hand and all were treated to a very entertaining 15-lap GM Performance Parts Shootout and history was made in the GMPP Shootout.

The 15-lap GMPP Shootout saw rookie contender, Alison Quick start on the pole and after a fierce battle with fellow rookie, Steve Vaughn, she held him off to become the first female driver in ASALMS history to win an event as the Redding, Iowa freshman won the GMPP Shootout.

Quick and Danny Ouderkirk brought the field down to the green flag to begin the 15-lap feature for the teams who unfortunately did not make the main feature. Quick jumped out to the early lead while Ouderkirk had a mirror full of Steve Vaughn.

Vaughn disposed of Ouderkirk and set his sights on Quick who opened up a comfortable lead. Vaughn began working the outside groove and soon was on the back bumper of Quick and the two began to battle.

The two rookies battled all over the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin speed plant as Vaughn was working the outside groove while Quick stuck to the bottom. Quick fight off the constant pressure from Vaughn and Quick, in her Goodyear Tire and Rubber/Kelly Tire and Exhaust Ford Fusion would lead all 15 laps to score her first career ASALMS win.
